Plagiarism

The Journal of Basrah Researches (Sciences)   is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and originality.

All submitted manuscripts are screened for plagiarism using Turnitin before being sent for peer review.

Plagiarism Screening Settings:
- The similarity check excludes references, bibliographies, quotations, and standard methodological descriptions.
- The overall similarity index must not exceed 20%.
- Excessive similarity from any single source may be considered unacceptable.

Manuscripts exceeding these thresholds will be returned to the authors for revision or may be rejected, depending on the severity of the similarity.

Handling of Plagiarism:
- If plagiarism is detected before peer review, the manuscript will be returned to the authors for clarification or correction.
- If plagiarism is detected during peer review, the review process will be suspended until the issue is resolved.
- If plagiarism is detected after publication, the journal will follow COPE guidelines, which may result in a correction, expression of concern, or retraction of the article.

Self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, citation manipulation, and excessive reuse of previously published material without proper citation are considered unethical practices.

Plagiarism cases are handled in accordance with the journal’s editorial policies and COPE guidelines.
